For a long time, one heard rumors about Rockstar sidelining GTA 5 and GTA Online after the launch of GTA 6. Strauss Zelnick, who serves as the CEO of Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive, recently stated that the studio is very serious about safeguarding and protecting the interests of “legacy titles”. Based on this statement, one can be fairly sure about the fact that the studio will take adequate measures to ensure GTA 5 and GTA Online stay relevant even after the gaming community is exposed to GTA 6.
While giving an interview to IGN, Zelnick was asked why players should keep exploring GTA Online once GTA 6 is launched. He also quizzed about the arrival of GTA 6 Online. Zelnick stated that he can’t talk about a game “when an announcement hasn’t been made”. He further said that Take-Two, as a company, is known for supporting its properties till the time a large number of gamers are involved with it.
To prove his point, Zelnick cited a pertinent example. NBA 2K Online was launched in China in the year 2012. NBA 2K Online 2, on the other hand, was rolled out in China in the year 2017. After the arrival of the new version, the studio did not sideline the older version. Both versions continue to be available in the market.
